Password Change

You can change your password at any time here:
https://sts.uni-lj.si/adfs/portal/updatepassword

The password is valid for 180 days.

You can change the password only once per day.

The password must contain:

• at least ten characters
• uppercase and lowercase letters
• numbers
• special characters such as [)#,$.%;&(]

The password must not be similar to any of your previous passwords and must not contain personal information.

Enter your username, old password, and the new password twice in the form.

If you have forgotten your old password, contact Dane 1081 for a reset.

Browsers

If your browser has saved the old password (which is not recommended), you should remove it after the change.

Recommendations

Frequent password changes are no longer considered good practice if the password is strong .

Change your password only if it has been compromised.

Modern recommendations:

• use passwords with at least 15 characters
• always combine them with multi-factor authentication (MFA)
• prefer passphrases made of random, unrelated words (battery-horse-staple-tulip)
• strongly recommended: use a password manager

NIST no longer requires mandatory complexity rules (uppercase + lowercase + number + special character).
ENISA still supports some complexity but strongly promotes the use of passphrases.
